2021 World Tour Travel Guide

WELCOME ABOARD, 2021 WORLD TOUR REGISTRANTS!

We are so thrilled to embark on this journey with you. Make sure you bookmark this webpage! As we inch toward the World Tour, this will be your 2021 World Tour information hub. Prior to, and for the duration of the 2021 World Tour, this Travel Guide webpage will update regularly with important event information.

WHAT TO EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE IN EACH COUNTRY

The Hosts in each country have developed their own unique formats for telling their stories by presenting authentic personal experiences and reflections recorded on available tools – mostly cell phones – while dealing with the constraints imposed by the COVID lockdowns. The Hosts will be sharing what they believe to be the most important things you need to know about early childhood services in their country. Most presentations will be in English. Many will be in other languages with English subtitles.

STRUCTURE & EVENT PLATFORM

We are using TalentLMS, a learning management system, for this virtual experience. See the section above for information about gaining access.

You can find the featured countries on the World Tour homepage. However, the order that the countries are featured will remain a secret. Each day of the World Tour, you will receive an email introducing that day’s featured country. Email announcements and new content will be released daily at 12 AM Pacific Standard Time. You can calculate the time/date in your location using the time zone calculator tool on the World Tour Travel Guide webpage.

Each participant in the World Forum World Tour will have the opportunity to watch and react to over 10 hours of rich video content that can be viewed asynchronously. Combined with other learning activities live on Zoom and on the Learning Management System, you have the opportunity to earn 20 hours of continued professional development.

There will be up to an hour of video content each day of the World Tour, plus a discussion board conversation to respond to and articles available for download on the theme. Additional opportunities for engagement and asynchronous online discussions will be facilitated throughout the 12-day tour period with your Tour Guide facilitators.

Two live, small group discussions will be held via Zoom for each “Tour Group” on April 7 and 14 (this will be April 8 and 15 for some of you). These sessions will be facilitated by World Forum leadership and recorded for later reference.

The Opening and Closing Plenaries will be held on Zoom for all participants. You will hear from several World Forum Foundation Leadership members and learn about the state of Early Childhood Development (ECD) worldwide. These will be recorded and made available to participants following the live session. The Opening and Closing Plenaries will be at 9 AM CST on April 5 and 16 (this will be April 6 and 17 for some of you).

PASSPORT

Because the World Tour requires only virtual travel, we know your real passports will miss out on ten new stamps from the featured countries. World Forum developed a “passport” to provide a fun, creative activity for you to personalize as we “travel” our way through the 2021 World Tour. Download your 2021 World Tour “Passport” today to learn about the demographics of the ten countries that will be featured on the World Tour. Add a stamp as you finish up each country visit, learn about each country’s Host Team, and keep your World Tour notes in one place.

How to stamp your passport: After exploring the featured country, right-click and copy the stamp located under the country map in the passport. Then, return to page 4 of the passport, right-click, and paste the stamp. Save your passport and move on to the next featured country.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE

The World Forum 2021 World Tour offers the opportunity to earn up to 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).  A CPD Certificate of Completion will be produced and issued, by World Forum Foundation, for those who complete the Professional Development requirements during the 2021 World Tour. The requirements for earning the CPD hours are outlined in the World Tour event platform.
